Who is Melody?

Melody Mundaca is an artist, DJ, and record collector from Chicago, Illinois and currently based in Roanoke, VA. With roots in photography, poetry, visual art, and music, Melody’s creative expression has been lifelong—shaped by a musically rich upbringing, a DJ father active in Chicago’s 1980s house scene, and musician brothers.
Of Mexican, Jamaican, Chilean, and German descent, her taste in sound is layered – spanning house/electronic, global, disco, Latin, freestyle, soul, hip hop, R&B and beyond.

She began to practice DJing at home privately in 2020, teaching herself both vinyl and digital, and began sharing her passion publicly; performing DJ sets at local venues in Spring 2025. She DJs using both digital and analog formats, with a deep passion for vinyl and a growing dedication to collecting, spinning, and sharing records as part of her evolving artistry.
In Summer 2025, she also co-founded Femme Fatales, an all-female DJ duo with friend Maggie Moser, dedicated to amplifying women in DJ culture and cultivating inclusive dancefloor spaces.
Melody’s sets blend deep emotion with crate-dug treasures and future-minded grooves—always honoring the roots, while pushing the rhythm forward. She continues to sing and record music outside of DJing, keeping her connection to songwriting and vocal performance alive. She carries a deep love for dancing, community, and bringing people together from all walks of life—using music as a tool for inclusivity, connection, and spreading love, peace, and healing through sound.
